Party Rock Anthem
Not the “youngest” (almost 30) but Saint Motel’s Everyone’s a Guru Now is pretty reminiscent of Billy Joel/Elton John’s “piano rock” style and sounds ripped from the ‘70s or ‘80s.
When I first heard Hozier’s Take Me To Church on the radio in Denny’s, I was convinced it was some old Elton John song.
Walk the Moon’s “Shut up and Dance” sounds like it could’ve been a Journey song.
Conversely, The Primitives’ “Crash” sounds new and fresh, even though it was written before I was born.
“Wannabe” by the “The Spice Girls”. I get what they’re going for, but boy/girl bands are just a new spin on the barbershop quartet.
I joke.
