To be fair, she is a fascist piece of shit.

We have the wrong kind of police in this country for that. Old school would relish the chance to give protesters a kicking, but the training in the last decade has been focussed on conflict resolution and mental health awareness.
She wants to get fired.
One of the theories going round at the moment is Sunak will jump ship mid next year leaving Braverman to lead the party into the election.
By getting fired she removes herself from leadership.

So why doesn’t she just quit then? What’s the significance of being fired?

She’s already quit over “integrity” because she sent an attachment over her personal gmail account, so I guess she just doesn’t want to be seen as a repeat offender.
It feels more like she’s thinking she can say it and get away with it to me. If she gets fired, she can always proclaim that the woke left has infiltrated the party and got her fired.
Maybe she can paint herself as a maverick who ‘spoke truth to power’, ‘I’m being silenced’, all that routine?
I’m guessing it’s money. It’s all about money with this lot.
Sunak doesn’t have the balls to do it.
I think he’s hoping she can prevent the right of their base from splitting to Reform. Whilst also providing some distance between him and the extreme ideas she’s spouting.
Edit: this aged poorly
Sunak doesn’t have the balls to do it.
Ordinarily, yes, you’re right. But Starmer has been concentrating his fire on Braverman and Sunak being weak about her. “She’s leading the party, and its somewhere nasty, and you’re too weak to do anything about it.” And that line is getting quite lot of traction in the media. He might have to fire her to avoid looking weak. Every time she says something awful and he doesn’t fire her, he just looks weaker and less electable.
There’s a lot of talk about him not wanting to look electable. He’s been accussed of priming up his post PM career ready for the general, like here - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/nov/03/labour-accuses-rishi-sunak-of-angling-for-job-after-elon-musk-interview
There’s a lot more money in the title of former prime minister than there is in the job itself.

This is the best summary I could come up with:
Rishi Sunak did not clear Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s article attacking the Metropolitan Police for its handling of pro-Palestinian protests.
Writing in The Times, Ms Braverman accused the force of applying a “double standard” to its policing of protests.
She claimed aggressive right-wing protesters were “rightly met with a stern response”, while “pro-Palestinian mobs” were “largely ignored”.
The ministerial code says all major interviews and media appearances, both print and broadcast, should “be agreed with the No 10 Press Office”.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has joined calls for Mr Sunak to sack Ms Braverman over the article.
Sir Keir accused the home secretary of undermining the police and said Mr Sunak was “too weak to do anything about it”.
The original article contains 206 words, the summary contains 120 words. Saved 42%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
