Trump is so honest and fair he gave up his measly 200k presidential wage, a little gift every now and then just to get some food on the table isn’t so bad? How is he supposed to feed his family without any income.

    Gee, what a good guy…

Perfectly legal under the “whatthefuckareyougonnadoaboutit” clause. Under this clause, anything is legal as long as nobody does anything about it, which is exactly what everyone is going to do.

Pretty much. Just let another country actively spy on the entire presidency, sacrifice national security, and no one will do a damn thing about it.

Exactly! It’s going to be a flying wiretap with every enemy of the US scrambling to get their electronics in before Qatar closes the deal with Trump. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were eavesdropping circuits baked into the silicon of every system in the plane.

What a fucking nightmare - but on brand for this kleptocracy of an administration.

To be fair, the Air Force will be stripping it down as they modify it for the needs of the office. But all it takes is one thing missed to be a huge problem. This just isn’t a great idea at all, but they knew he’d jump at it because hey, free plane that he gets to keep.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that the Qatari (Quatarans?Quasars?) know that and will make sure that something without which it can’t function at all or something that the Mango Mussolini will insist on keeping (like a dedicated Truth Social console or a direct line to other dictators, for example) includes surveillance equipment and/or software.

It’s not like they’re going to be able to force him not to use it any more than they could force him not to tweet from an unsecured phone in the oval office and the presidential bedroom…

the Constitution’s foreign emoluments clause, Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, which states: “And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

And he’s turning it into fucking airforce one !
    That’s batshit.

Lately I have had fun with pointing out the holes in the constitution which under normal circumstances would not be an issue as it is understood what was meant. But with trump and the current SC these holes should be obvious on how these will work out just fine for trump.

“without the Consent of the Congress”

There, that is how it will be fine and dandy and he will get away with it. The senate will approve and if this gets challenged and put in front of the SC, you can bet they will point to this quoted part to give it a stamp of approval.

Two things can happen. Either it will be transferred to his personal domain and he owns it or it will be parked next to his toilets, just like the documents he stole and still got to use, sell and blackmail with.

However you slice and dice it, he will have that plane and nobody will stop him.

Makes you wonder though, if Biden had accepted a plane or gift like that, I’m sure republicans and maga would have been fine with it, no complaints would have been filed and fox news would have been ‘on board’.

oh yes, the hypocrisy is just amazing. i always got that they were pretending to have morals, but how stupid do they think their voters are?

and although it’s obviously a bribe: One reason Trump liked fast food is because he was paranoid about being poisoned… since the food was made before he got there, it’s harder to poison….
so how is he trusting Qatar not to fuck with the jumbo jet at all? Why would he trust them more than anyone else?

i think we know who got the Epstein tapes… the ones that the FBI forgot to get a warrant for, and disappeared between the raid and them getting a warrant to take it….

There should be a clause stating that if the president fails to comply, he will automatically be removed from office, his executive orders will be revoked, the vice president, the cabinet, and congressmen who support the president’s idea will be dismissed.

After preparing a special election for the population to choose a new president and congressmen,

Sure corruption, he’s also incredibly stupid as i’d bet every conversation he’ll ever have on that plane will be translated and broadcast realtime into 3 different languages. Its really funny to me just how stupid of a security concern that it would be. They’ll know where he is, what he thinks, when he goes to the bathroom.

They could even put in a “drop out of the sky” button for themselves if they stop liking him. “Oh but its Boeing” as if a foreign nation cares about that in the least.

It’ll bugged, tracked, sabotaged, and most of all, not safe to set a single foot on. If I was in the press pool, I’d quit following him when he gets it. There’s reasons the air force handles everything start to finish.

Just the latest in an ever-growing string of obviously corrupt acts involving this obviously corrupt politician.

In less than a year, the US has gone from a nation that at least punished the most egregious corruption to a nation in which the highest elected office in the land is held by the most brazenly and openly corrupt politician in modern US history, and nobody is doing a thing about it.

The US is circling the drain.

Mm… yeah. I should’ve stipulated that nobody is doing anything to stop him (or even really to slow him down).

The Supreme Court and virtually the entirety of the Republican party - federal, state and local - are actively aiding and abetting him, which, yeah, does count as doing something.

I believe the law says this is not allowed, we all know. But I also believe the government can just take it back when he’s kicked the fuck out of office, or grounded and put in a hanger when the mid-term wipeout comes.

I wish I was naive enough to still believe that the fascists are going to let that happen.

He’ll die in office, no matter how many laws and norms he and his cult have to change or ignore to make it so.

Best we can hope for is that it happens soon.
