It’s soda in Japan–not soda in Japanese. Which is to say that the word doesn’t mean “soda”, as the title implies. It’s a brand name.

The name ramune is derived from the English word lemonade.
This stuff is pretty easily found in the US nowadays also.
They’re sold at many grocery stores in the US. I like them because the servings are small and they have about half the sugar of a typical US soda

I used to drink this in the 90s. Back before anime went mainstream, we had one little anime shop in my town that sold all kinds of cool Japanese stuff. They even sold PS1 ext port mods so you could play copied and imported games!
