Not defending that guy’s assertion but there’s some things the article ignored in order to be a little more of a doomer take. Notably the 35% preloading of inventory and the bit about if Trump removed the tarrifs today it would be too late. Those two parts contradict. We are overstocked on inventory for now and the clock is ticking (as far as the big retailers go). However the US’s reputation is marred on the world stage and trade deals are worthless with a conman. So yep, even if he drops tarrifs we’re screwed, but it’ll be a while still until shelves are empty.
