We have to stop pretending Trump is just some bumbling idiot with misguided by good intentions.

Trump isn’t trying to make workable trade deals with China.

All that Trump is trying to do is cause permanent damage to America at the behest of foreign masters.

And he is succeeding tremendously in his goals.

Stop acting like Trump is a failure, because he’s not, his goals are just antithetical to ours.

I still think he is a bumbling idiot, he may be manipulated, but he is an ignorant fool nonetheless

This interpretation also satisfies occam’s and Hanlon’s razors (although it’s hard to ignore the malice)

The term is useful idiot. A loyal dog you can point at a lake and tell it attack and it’s too stupid or loyal to not drown trying.

That’s valid, but it’s why I said he’s not just an idiot. I’m not denying he’s an idiot, I’m just saying it’s vastly more nefarious than that.

Trump is clearly a bumbling idiot but certainly not with good intentions. He’s a great representation of Hanlon’s razor. Or the notion of a Useful Idiot, his goals align with foreign actors but Trump does these things because he wants to do them. Trump also has deep seated issues with pleasing male authority figures, ‘strong men’, which totally makes sense with how his father was towards him.
