I’m searching for a Lemmy community to ask and discuss deeper societal questions such as about social injustices, greed, capitalism, communism, racism etc. On Reddit there were communities like r/SeriousConversation . Is there any alternative here on Lemmy?
Oh goodie, a brand new account made to ask this question. Why not ask the question here with your real account?
What is a “real account” anyway? I’ve been here for over two years, and this is probably my eighth account. Whenever I hit around 1000 comments, I make a new one - so I’ll be ditching this one soon, too. Which of those would even count as my “real” account?
Lemmy is such a small platform that if I’d stuck with my first account, tons of people would recognize me by now. I don’t want internet fame, and I’d rather make it as hard as possible for any potential stalker to follow me around. Not tying your entire post history to a single username just seems like the smart move - and honestly, it surprises me how often a privacy-minded platform like Lemmy feels hostile toward people who do this.
I often make new accounts when I post something about a different topic. Why is that relevant to you?
To paraphrase the guidelines from another site:
IMO creating a new account every time you post something is bad form and pollutes the fediverse
New accounts make people suspicion of trolling or spamming, but it’s hard to imagine interpreting the question here of that.
Make as many accounts as you want. In fact, it’s sort of encouraged because you want a back up if one of your instances go down.
