I actually see both of these as good things.

Hear me out.

I’m an NDP voter, and I think they needed to get crushed in this election. The federal NDP need a wake up call. I sincerely hope this will be it. They need to remember why people vote for them, and actually stand out as a true socialist, progressive option, not just Liberal-lite. With any luck this defeat will burn that version of the party to the ground and allow the real NDP to emerge from the ashes.

There is no doubt they will come back, if the Trump threat is over by next election. Imagine, Rachel Notley as leader …. She’d be great but there’s others too.

at least they have the chance to rebuild a better more fleshed out platform, with a step by step plan like Carney laid out in plain speech for any who cared to actually listen and comprehend it. so people can understand how they want to achieve the claims they make for their potential policy.

and perhaps pick a better leader.

they have their work cut out for them, but one can hope.
