Microsoft is raising prices on Xbox consoles, controllers, headsets, and some games. The price hike for consoles and accessories kicks in today, May 1, and while game prices will stay the same for now, we should expect to see Xbox charging $79.99 for new, first-party games around the holiday season.
Yup. As expected the industry is following Nintendo lead thanks to gamers.
I know how it effected my personal sales commitment. I’m not pre-ordering a switch 2. I’ve got a PC and a steam deck with a huge catalog of affordable games in my future.
Dude. The preorders literally “sold out.” My brother messaged me last week asking why there was a huge line out the door at GameStop, and I had to look it up because that was also the day Switch 2 preorders started.
G*mers are the bane of other gamers’ existence. Also, most people have literally no self-control.
Switch 2 isn’t even out yet. We have no idea how the raised game prices will affect sales numbers.
I mean given how the preorders have sold out in seconds, it’s not a mystery.

I think gamers have all but cemented this new reality.

Who the fuck is going to be paying the $1200 or whatever for a switch 2?
