Hello all, I hope you have been well and I wish I could say the same for myself. I am refraining from being pessimistic in this moment but as it stands I do not feel too good. This has nothing to do with my health or the health of anyone in my family. Although we’re all physically well, what happened left me shocked and unable to process everything. Due to the sensitivity of this subject I won’t object if the mods deem it safer for the community to lock this post.

Opening her eyes and then staring into mine, she eased into herself and said “Your aunt told me you were wondering what happened to my sons.” I nodded, mentioning what she said about how her sons had experienced some hardships recently. She looked away and nodded. With a slight smile she looked at me and said “She also said you had your own opinions on the genocide.”

At that point I realized my aunt had communicated my skepticism to her. “I have my own opinion but I would like to hear what you have to tell me if you don’t mind.” Still staring at me, she asked, “What do you think happened to them?”

I told her that my assumptions were as follows: the son posted something online that they shouldn’t have, they got detained and were let go within the same month. After taking a sip of tea, the woman looked upwards for a moment and said “I would like you to listen to my story before passing judgement.”

A frown appeared on her face and she swallowed, trying her best to hold back tears. I refilled her tea cup and she nodded, thanking me. With both hands she turned the cup clockwise and then anticlockwise. With her gaze focused on the cup, she began to speak again.

“About a year ago they took my son and imprisoned him. Three men in police uniform came to the door and asked me ‘Where is (son’s name)?’ When I couldn’t answer, they let themselves in and searched my apartment, asking repeatedly where he was. I still couldn’t answer. They went upstairs, found (son’s name), and proceeded to pull him out of his room. He was in a state of panic but from his perspective he saw me with the men and so he cursed me and accused me of bringing them here. I couldn’t deny it. I think he still blames me to this day.”

A tear fell from her eye and left a mark next to her tea cup. I could see she was reliving this story as she was telling it. I wondered how many times she’s put herself through this. Was that the first time she recollected these repressed memories or was it a daily routine for her? I felt a deep pain in my chest and swallowed back tears.

As my eyes scanned one by one down the length of the post, they grew wider, and soon my mouth joined them in gaping open. It was true! It had to be. Nobody could write fiction with such raw detail and well structured prose. Only someone recounting genuine experiences could so perfectly capture the subtleties at play within this beautiful and haunting narrative.

I stopped reading about half-way through, people only write fiction books like this. 99.99% chance this is a shitpost.

I don’t really understand the message OP is trying to get across here but this is obviously fictional, in case anyone had any illusions about that.

It’s a very entertaining read though. Solid high effort shitposting.

After that, we left the prison with a lot to think about. The bus ride back to my aunt’s house was uncomfortable for many reasons, some of them obvious. What was true, what was a lie? Were those people prisoners? Could they leave just as easily as us? Why were we let go? Did I have another pair of pants at my aunt’s house? All of these questions burned in my mind, but I could only answer one of them.

      Gold Jerry, gold!

Ooof those replies. They can’t acknowledge their team has problems. Because that’s all it is to them, a team sport just like the fascists.

I already felt heavy about it, and then I saw:

It’s not funny to me anymore that they are the way they are on Hexbear. Now it is just crushing sadness.

I mean, its a 22 day old account.

Imagine if someone rolled up an account that fresh on .world, made a big to-do about going to Ukraine, and then came back with a long sob story about how Zelensky has ruined the country, the Russians are secretly seen as liberators, and Donald Trump is a hero of the people.

How fast would that account be downvoted, heckled, and obliterated by the mods?

You see this kind of hostility with far more credible and consistent publications. Like, anything out of TheGreyZone that’s remotely hostile to Ukraine or friendly towards Russia is going to get taken down and very likely account suspended. People don’t want to hear that shit. It rubs their priors entirely the wrong way.

I mean reading the whole thing, it is very clearly a prank designed to bait the non-tankie instances into taking it seriously.

And no, lemmy.world would in no way react in the same way to a cosplay that was taking place from the other side, even if it was more believable than this. UniversalMonk played that prank and the LW mods loved him for it.

I think you’d be shocked to discover how much overlap exists between the two communities.

There are a few .world doing that non ironically. In .ca they always create their own communities. And they usually stay around unless they break the instance rules too many times.

As far as I know, they only get downvotes, nothing more.

Yeah, but our admin team is pretty good about overreach of power. I’ve seen a few instances of an admin arguing with someone championing a view the admin clearly didn’t share, and unless the other person started breaking rules the comments were left up, and the account wasn’t banned. They’re quite fair about moderating the rules.

Yeah, the admin team of .ca is great. They are organized, open to input and always take the initiative (.ca toughened up on disinformation this election cycle).

            Yeah, but our …

It was not supposed to be a negative critic of our instance/admins, on the contrary.

I was replying to the message who said this kind of trolling would be removed and banned right away in any instance, which is not true, I was even surprised that hexbear banned the troll just for that post…

But I just looked, the xiaohongshu2 was not banned for the post, xiaohongshu2 was banned for impersonating another user in bad faith. Hexbears took the post quite well, and the text is still there for people to read.

Didn’t take it that way at all bud 👍
My comment was trying to add context for other folk who might not be aware. Sorry if it seemed otherwise!

What the heck is this about the “yellow snow” figures and peeing their pants?

This is either a Hexbear person writing up creative fiction, or else something real that the Hexbear admins quickly edited or something. This is a really bizarre.
