William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Green lighter. Cannabis joint. Dead leaf.
Apparently Henry the IV encouraged cannabis cultivation in the 1500’s so maybe. When was Friar Lawrence around? (Or written, haven’t read Romeo and Juliet)
The 1500’s. They had hemp rope. But a Friar smoking weed is not something I think you’re gonna see historical evidence of.
They didn’t have skins back then 🤔, lol!
Sailing, and therefore hemp, were strategic national priorities of England for centuries.
Edit: I didn’t research this so it’s likely misleading or even wrong.
Yeah, I think that is true for much of Europe. Hemp got replaced by cotton for its cheaper production and superior feel. And at some point cannabis got banned internationally and hemp production was gone for decades.
