The funny thing is you can see exactly this type of separation in the US it just is usually separated by a free way rather than a fence. East and West Highland in San Bernardino comes to mind.
I was actually going to use an example of train tracks but decided not to, mostly because explaining that a long dead woman had a superiority complex cause she lived on the south side of the tracks was a bit pointless even for me.
Basically my grandmother had a great aunt who constantly bragged about living in South Redlands and would not shut the fuck up about it. She had a severely unbearable superiority complex in a German-American family where every member had a severe superiority complex, also she stole a tonne of shit when my 2x great grandparents passed because everyone was out for dinner after the funeral.
The funny thing is according to my grandmother this aunt was toothless, talked like white trash, and lived in a shack but because she lived in South Redlands that meant she was better.
That sounds very much like certain white trash family members in my family/extended family, and family of neighbor kids I grew up with.
Utterly shit people who have objectively fucked up or failed at nearly every opportunity ever presented to them, never seek out or attempt to create their own opportunities… but also somehow just infinitely smug and self confident about basically just random unremarkable nonsense details of their lives.
And of course, are never wrong about anything and are literally incapable of genuine introspection.
They did that last time Trump was in office lol, I distinctly remember a post exactly like that
IIRC:
It was an aerial, or highly elevated shot of an extremely wealth district of high rise apartments and condos in… Brazil I think?
Seperated by a giant fence with a favela on the other side.
And then labelled something to the effect of ‘this is your brain on communism’ or whatever.
EDIT: Something like this, I think:
Rio de Janiero.

The entire history of the phrase ‘wrong side of the tracks’ also comes to mind.

I mean, I’d appreciate it!
