But only because it’s spelt differently, and the pronounciation is entirely different 😬
Still, the Donner Party and their gruesome fate isn’t widely known outside the US.
The Döner party is actually a political party in Germany.
There’s a German proverb:
Döner macht schöner.

Kinda reminds me of shawarma. I haven’t tried Döner Kebab just yet to compare, but I’d like to try it out.
The difference to shawarma is negligible, yes. We’re using the turkish word because they introduced it to Germany and most of Europe. The Döner Kebab in the german/berlin style has become something new compared to it’s roots and is a completely turko-german item that could not get more popular.
So I’m guessing I should expect something familiar when trying out Döner. Thank you for this info.
