Helldivers 2 is locking out players who use older CPUs
Sounds unintentional if they’re already working on a fix
Like someone said in the original post, I’m surprised people are trying to play any modern game with a 13 year old or more CPU.
Yeah just thought I post here too
Yeah honestly I’m surprised playing on older hardware a game like this even runs
Also irrc arrowhead said the change to enemy AI did have a small hit to performance but in live it was bigger than what tested
Don’t quote me on that, that statement has the same validity as heard from an uncles friends dad
older hardware is more capable than people think. my daily laptop is from 2012. not for gaming ofc but still.
Comet-lake-s Pentium class CPUs lack avx, and the most recent is only 4 years old.
I think the pentium brand has been notoriously difficult to find until very recently. More to the point Celeron processors dont have the right microcode either most likely. These really arent normal hardware choices even for hobby builders
They are cheap, and plenty of budget “laptops” have them.
Ya, sure do, but they tend to be hardware that isnt going to be supported by the game anyway. Hell ever try to get windows on a chromebook?
I have had the displeasure of using a laptop that had a celeron and shipped with windows, it technically ran Minecraft, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get helldivers to run if you could get it to launch at 240p.
People shouldn’t be surprised their 13 year old CPU doesn’t support a game that lists newer CPUs as a minimum requirement - but at least they’re trying to fix it:
“Regarding the AVX2 issue, we are currently working on a fix for this. Thank you for being patient, and I apologize for the struggles you’ve had in the meantime.”
That’s good
Smells like Sony.
The AVX2 minimum requirement wasn’t actually enforced previously, despite their intent. The fact CPUs without AVX2 worked was a bug.
Hmmm… How factually conveenient. 😜
