It’s blatant extortion now.

Just look up mutually assured mass destruction and you’ll understand.

A conventional war with the US would be mutually assured destruction at this point, interestingly. I dont think the US could hold together fighting the most unpopular war in history with neighbours whose biggest cities are mere miles from your own.

I agree, but I’m not confident that Trump understands that.

We saw in his meeting with Zelenskyy that Trump is afraid of Putin. He doesn’t have any concept of honour and respect. He thinks respect is the same ad fear. So we need something to make Trump afraid.

Except USA’s military is like 10x bigger so I don’t think it would be mutually assured destruction.

It would tear the US apart internally is what I mean.

Imagine having millions of insurgents directly on your border that blend in perfectly with your own people. Now imagine they are angry and willing to cause as much carnage as possible. Think the Troubles on steroids.

Now imagine a population of people who didnt want this war in the first place fearing they may be killed at any moment because Orange man, who they didnt vote for, said to invade your peaceful neighbor.

How will that end? It would rip the US apart. Not on day one, but with time.

So yes, it would destroy Canada. But it would destroy the US too.

I guess that’s a good way of looking at it, that’s a good point. As long as it’s not a massacre and we actually put up a fight then I guess what you’re saying would be the case.

Besides theoretical guarantee you would need a will to wreak havoc to both of worlds. Will someone in Canada launch nukes with fist step of the first soldier on Canada’s land? If no, when?
