I haven’t used torrents or windows since windows xp. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. I’ve gotten a new gaming rig and would like to download some stuff via torrents what would be a good user guide to follow?

I hear a lot now that I have to use a VPN or seedbox as ISP will spy on you and flag you. This is new news to me and I’d rather not be flagged and avoid giving my brand new rig a place on someone’s botnet.

What steps are necessary to ensure safe downloading from both ISP side and my own local machine. Sorry for the cluelessness but it was simple for me as a teen to just use a torrent client and tpb to get stuff.
