Holy shit, if the budget didn’t need passing in the next few weeks this would be so much more hilarious.
Dysfunctional government is exactly what our enemies want, and exactly what they are paying our elected officials to create.
Elect clowns, get a fucking circus.
If they cannot figure out how to be a functioning working government I think we all need to strongly consider who we vote for next time around. Get people that are there to do their job, not fight amongst themselves.
If only a majority of Republican voters thought like that. Instead they’re apparently still able to blame the Democrats even after this whole long shit show. They don’t read the same news.

Could be an unsurprising sign of the difference between conservative Reddit users and GOP voters at large. But I don’t really know.
Well, we clearly can’t rely on some mass awakening and enlightenment of Republican voters to fix the problems of this country. Instead we’re going to have to get the normal, sane and reasonable people of the country to overpower them at the voting booth.
Imagine if the Dems could put forth a younger, dynamic candidate who would fire up the voting base!
People who voted for Republicans are getting what they want. Proof that government doesn’t work.
Elect people that hate government, get people that won’t govern.
“We spent several months not passing a basic budget, then gave ourselves 45 extra days to get it done, then spent those 45 days throwing water balloons at each other, stepping on rakes and slapping each other in the face, windmill-style.”
This is seriously beyond fucking parody at this point, am I right?
It would be hilarious if we weren’t staring down another government shutdown, which would have been solved last month had the MAGA Republicans not thrown a hissy fit about not getting their way.
How many mooches was that?
According to the article time stamps and my napkin math, Emmer lasted ~0.0177 Mooches.
1.77 centiMooches.
As the designate. Lol
Wow, that is actually disappointing to me. I don’t like Emmer but he seemed like the best we were likely to get out of the current GOP and might have been someone the Democrats could support for the sake of stability and getting a budget.
Even when he’s not president, Trump manages to continue screwing us over.
Democrats aren’t going to support a Speaker candidate unless they get something for it. That is how legislative systems work.
And they won’t get anything because Republicans will go back on the deal the second they can. And Dems know this.
So we’re stuck.
Hell, that’s how people work too.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The political team of former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who became an outspoken opponent of the former president, sent around some old clips about Johnson’s involvement and highlighted The New York Times calling him “the most important architect of the Electoral College objections.”
Troy Nehls of Texas said that he is still planning to nominate Donald Trump for speaker, even if the former president would only be in place for a short time ahead of next year’s presidential election.
Some context on Tom Emmer voting to certify the 2020 election result: He chaired the NRCC that cycle and Republicans had a good night, unexpectedly gaining 13 seats — all on the same ballot as Donald Trump.
The fact that so many of them backed Donald Trump’s theory of a faulty 2020 election — even after a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol — isn’t entirely surprising, since it was a common position among GOP leadership.
The GOP’s two previous picks bowed out after they failed to secure the votes needed to win on the floor, leaving the House in a state of unprecedented chaos with a possible government shutdown less than a month away and wars raging in Ukraine and the Middle East.
And you can’t have the full complement of American leadership if the House of Representatives is not functioning,” Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., said on NBC’s “Meet the Press NOW,” emphasizing the need for his colleagues to move on and coalesce around a new leader.
