I’m looking for a new cordless power drill. Are there any brands you’d recommend?
I know you said power tools, semi related there are Canadian hand tools, Gray Tools, recall them being solid. You have Veritas tools as well for woodworking.
Thank you!! I might need to get these in the future, and it might help someone else as well!
Makita is good bang for your buck and Japanese owned. You can even get some cool made in Japan drills online that work with our batteries.
KMS tools is a great local store to buy tools from any brand, often have good sales.
Amazing, thank you!!!
Stihl is Germany. Matika is Japan… This might help: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tool_manufacturers
Thank you!!
As a tidbit
Japanese handsaws have backwards teeth so it cuts on the pull instead of the push
No idea if that’s in your future plans but may be something to be wary of
TIL! Have you tried both styles?
I have, cutting on the pull is better…or it would if I wasn’t so used to cutting on the push that I kept messing up. Those few strokes in a row that I get it are cool
Here’s an article on it for more info, though I wouldn’t trust affiliate links

Thanks for sharing!
I’m also open to buying tools made in other non-US countries, but would prefer to support my local economy first.
Totes.
I’d probably look into German tools. They’re some of the best, I hear.
I think Bosch is German. I’ll check them out, thanks!
I once duct taped a drill bit to a piece of wood that was kinda shaped like one of those old-timer hand cranked drills… Cordless, check! Made in Canada, check! I don’t still have it though, and I don’t know how much I’d charge. The bit probably came from Canadian Tire?
