yeah I suppose a gay trans woman who’s neurodivergent, disabled, unemployed, broke, who spent most of her adult life homeless, dealing with addiction and trauma is a likely candidate for somebody who jokes about being depressed because they wanna seem so cool and funny. doesn’t that just sound so awesome, who wouldn’t wanna lie about being like that!
in all seriousness I know you don’t mean any harm by this, I was going to ignore it at first, but I decided that I wanted to say that it’s better not to assume somebody is just joking when they say they are depressed. it’s shitty to joke about serious mental issues and misrepresent your situation by making false claims, but it’s also shitty to have suggested that your just faking it.

i did debate on putting this comment, cuz it really does sound like i’m saying “damn all these people just fake everything for attention”. which, i really tried to not come across like this, but i did.
