    Jan 27, 2025 - Mammoth Monday: Voices

    • Brush: Brochas El Druida/House of Mammoth Tobacconist Chisel & Hound v8 Fanchurian Badger Knot
    • Razor: Aylsworth Razors Drakkant Ti
    • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [17]
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Voices - Soap

The charm and nuances of this scent get muddled a bit in soap form, but you can’t go wrong with Tusk.

I had a sample of Voices and loved it. I keep asking Ben if it’ll get a new label, especially now that Lather Talk is retired. “We’ll see” was the latest answer.

Ishtar is on the chopping block; it clearly will not see the summer. And with the revolutionary calendar, I learn new words. Today’s namesake is a highly poisoneous plant, I don’t know why you would name a day after it.

    Have a good evening!

    27.01.2025 - short MMMMFF

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. Snakeskin handle w/ 26 mm Silksmoke Flattop/Fan hybrid knot
    • Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip/Flying Wing, gold plated
    • Blade: GEM PTFE
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist
    • Post-Shave: Moon Soaps Old School “balm”

-> single pass head shave, a very short flight but nevertheless very enjoyable.

I begin to get seriously tired from the brush, but my inner sloth has prevented me from picking up something else.

Tobacconist as great as always, same goes for the Flying Wing. This razor is a classic case of “they don’t make them like they used to”. Unfortunately, as I really have a soft spot for GEM razors. Well, at least it shows no signs of failure despite being a stubble annihilator for literal decades. It’s fast, it’s looking good, it’s everything I could ask for as long as I regularly change blades… really cool Monday insight.

    Jan. 27, 2025

    • Brush: Proraso Professional
    • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24
    • Blade: GEM PTFE [4]
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Port-au-Prince - Soap
    • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Aftershave
    • Osma: Osma - Osma
    • Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery - G20

    What a remarkable shave.

I’ve been wanting to try this scent for awhile, and when I heard that Stirling was discontinuing it I knew I had to pick up a puck.

So happy I did. What an incredible scent. It’s subtle but wonderful. And, of course, the mutton tallow base is one of the best in the business.

What’s truly remarkable about this scent is my wife liked it. I’m not joking, she hates scents. It’s to the point where I rarely use anything except scented soap anymore, and even then sometimes she can pick up the scent on me (and hate it) hours later. But this one she loved. Hopefully it comes back someday!

    January 27, 2025

    • Brush: Wolf Whiskers – “Gianmaria” w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
    • Razor: Fatip Classic Testina Gentile
    • Blade: Personna 74 (7)
    • Lather: Abbate y La Mantia - Garibaldi - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Weinstrasse - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

Decent lather. I’ve heard this artisan grows his own Saffron to put in his soaps. Pretty cool.

Despite the really strong aftershave, I somehow still get whiffs of the soap. Impressive and weird, because it’s a relatively light scent.

    Monday, January 27, 2025

    • Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar
    • Razor: Gillette - Slim Adjustable (L4, 1966)
    • Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (2)
    • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
    • Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber Aftershave splash
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
    • Fragrance: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber EdP

Back to the GTB hunt. I think I’ll be done in the next two weeks if I can stay focused.

Gillette Slim gave a great shave. I’m consistently impressed with the quality of the shave I get from vintage DE/SE razors.
