Was feeling frisky and decided to attempt to get the Doom Slayer achievement (Defeat the final boss with all demon spawners alive and Badder Bosses challenge enabled).

Been attempting it for a week or so and rarely make it past the 1st boss (I’ve gotten too used to fighting normal bosses - these challenge bosses keep hanging me up).

Mis-fired a caustic potion at Yog while one of the fists was still up. If I hadn’t wasted that potion, I’m pretty sure I would’ve won this fight.

First time actually making it to the final boss fight with Badder Bosses on, so I feel really accomplished to have made it this close.

Here’s the secret to Doom Slayer: turn a scroll of transmutation or 2 into a pack of recycles. Now use these recycles to make a bunch of scrolls of rage and then turn them into stones of aggression.

Stones of aggression are super strong when Yog has a bunch of dangerous Demon Halls enemies around him. They beat him up really quickly. With a bunch of stones you can even afford to use some against the fists.

Other things you want: scrolls of psionic blast (exotic retribution) and potions of magical sight (exotic mind vision). Psionic blast can wipe out 2 fists and all the regular enemies when they build up too much. Just make sure the fists have moved off the platform first.

You’ll also want potions of stamina (exotic haste) to allow you to move quickly and stay far from enemies. Scrolls of dread (exotic terror) are also excellent as a panic button. Just make sure you run away from the enemies after they get hit by the dread so they can leave line of sight (which wipes them out as soon as they do).

      Those are some solid tips.

One problem I’m running into is not knowing the full capabilities of the “toolbox” provided. For example, I hate being blinded, so I tend to just burn Scrolls of Retribution for alchemy energy, and haven’t bothered to learn how they can be useful. The Caustic Brews were one that I only really started using as I started trying this challenge.

I had no notion that Psionic Blast and Scroll of Dread worked like that, so def gonna see about employing those next attempt.

      Thanks!

Potions of magical sight completely counteract blindness! Since the blindness on both scrolls only lasts 10 turns and magical sight lasts 50 turns if you use the potion right before the scroll then you can basically ignore the blindness debuff entirely! Plus the sight range increase helps you see more targets so that the scroll kills more enemies and does less feedback damage to you (in the case of psionic blast).

Lol, listening to the strats you’re putting up has me feeling like a newb all over again. Really appreciate the tips.

Are there any good websites / resources for achieving mastery in this game? Learning how to manage melee has been a real challenge for me (I main Huntress and Mage since ranged just makes more sense to me). I think thats next in my list once I get Doom Slayer.

            The two big ones are:

The Complete Noob’s Guide is a bit out of date (does not have Duelist, never mind Cleric). If there’s a more updated version I’m not aware of it. However a lot of its info is nearly universal across versions, in particular all the stuff about consumables, wands, movement speeds, attack speeds, angles for ranged attacks, line of sight, monster AI, and how to deal with each enemy type and boss in a generic way. I think the alchemy info is also out of date, and of course there’s no info on trinkets either.

The Wiki is a much better resource for up to date info on the game. However it is not nearly as complete in terms of strategic info, so having both the CNG and the Wiki are advisable. And of course the in-game journal and character info from the new game screen is always going to be the most reliable and accurate information, albeit with the least amount of strategic info.
