    I’ve never heard of it but sounds dumb. Why does everything need a label and why group up people of color under a label like that

      For the same reason that lgbt+ people use self-chosen labels, it forms a way for us to bond and find community in primarily white environments. We have different lived experiences (to white folks) and sometimes it’s nice to find people with similar experiences to your own and that understand things from your point of view, labels can help with that.

      Besides the world already labels us based on how we look so why can’t we use those labels to recognize each other and find unity in that.
