My #Garmin watch has been pushing up my auto-detected maximum heart rate for months now.

And now it says my max HR is 211! Either I’m getting more and more fit as I age (early forties now), or something is fishy. Since my workouts are based on my max HR, they have been also getting more difficult over time. I checked reddit and found many people complaining about this. So today, I manually set the max HR to a reasonable value.

Anyone else faced this issue? @running @garmin #running #runnersofmastodon

@over_clox are you implying that Garmin devices do not exist anymore because you have not seen one in 18 years? And that I’ve been hallucinating for the last decade that I wear one everyday? 😆

I’m guessing they’re trying to act like you are some sort of luddite for using a Garmin watch. I saw a similar comment recently on Hacker News that was making out that having your own music collection and non-streaming giant software was some sort of dead market: “Oh a music player? I haven’t seen one of those in years.”

Makes even less sense with Garmin given they are pumping out multiple models every year (arguably too many).
