Ikr when we really want more Ryan gosling and Margot robbie! How is that not obvious to them???

That said my favorite thing about it is they finally managed to nail that elusive women market and don’t even understand why. Wonder woman, reboot Ghostbusters, so many half assed money grab attempts thinking feminism is just lame rah rah girl power. Yet it’s the barbie movie that nails it and captures all audience’s. And the answer is more toy movies haha.

Sorry, but Barbie and feminism in the same sentence is painful to hear. Feminism is about changing society to make it more equal, not barbie… Barbie is about selling the most conservative toy ever (together with j.i.joe)

That’s why everyone is going to the toy movies. Because the political message of barbie is as fake as barbie, but it helps selling toys

Unless the movie can erase 75 years of unrealistic beauty standards, does it matter how nice the movie made you feel?

What matters is the message the movie has to say and it had a true feminist message about equality.

Also The cast had barbies and Kens of all ethnicities and sizes.

And the movie was a really important moment for a lot of women and girls. I think it’s super closed minded to the point you’re the one missing out if you won’t give it a chance just because it is based around a toy with a problematic history.

You need to remember that Hollywood is risk averse. They are not making things to make art but to make profit. Thats why there’s like ten Fast and the Furious movies. Because they print money because car go fast boom explosion family.

When that realization hits home it makes perfect sense why we see remakes and adaptations and sequels. They already have a fanbase who will go see it.

“You need to realize …” … exactly what the meme is calling out? It’s calling them uncreative, not declaring their efforts null and void. No one is saying they fail at money. They fail at meat on bones.

you should give the new wes anderson movie “the wonderful story of henry sugar” a try, it’s fantastic in terms of creativity and really unique in it’s storytelling.

If you want creative movies try to check out some A24 movies.

Some examples: Ex-Machina, Swiss Army Men, The Lobster, The lighthouse, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Beau is Afraid, The Whale.

Funny. Back in the day when Tumblr was big people loved theory crafting for these kinds of things (and those still there probably still do). Interesting to watch capitalism monitize and exploit facets of human life in real time

And the monkey’s paw curls another digit.

Actually there is probably some irony referencing the events of a 120 year old story that has been re-made and referenced countless times to describe what is happening here.

I for one love gigantic universes that are fleshed out with tons of content. Then again I love warhammer 40k so maybe my opinion means less
