As a trans person, I kinda don’t give a fuck. There’s so much going on at the national level, I don’t need them to devote speaking time to it. So long as I can continue to count on them when it matters, of course.
I agree, when a speaker say “Freedom to be allowed to be who you are.” I clearly understand that as including transgender. Actually I hear that as specifically including transgender, because there is no other group where that is more pronounced.
Luckily democrats have moved in the right direction on these issues for the past few years, but unfortunately republicans have not.You won’t be able to count on them, and that’s a part of the problem. They will only come calling when they need something and then they’ll just as easily toss you to the curb as they all have all other marginalized throughout history.
AGAIN, these conventions are meant to send a message about a wide range of issues, and don’t have time to focus on the micro. Everything is spoken about GENERALLY. If you are a small population of people who doesn’t feel recognized in these speeches, I’m sorry. That’s not what this whole thing is designed for.
LGBTQ+ people were mentioned quite a bit by almost every speaker that I saw, but just not singled out by name. That’s the point.
If you watched these speeches and were slighted by your specific group not getting name checked, and you also found this offensive, wow. I feel bad for all the other groups that didn’t get that attention, because there’s a fucking lot of them.
4 days, 8 hours each night. “No time in the 32 hour program to mention or give just 1 trans person a speech. Get over it!”
Same thing happened with not allowing any Uncommitted or Palestinians to speak.
Yup. Exactly that.
Each speaker is given a set amount of time to devote to all the countries problems. You expect them to name check “trans” instead of the wider LGBTQ+ community.
Unrealistic.
If all those speakers had to do so, let’s bring up every minority group asking for attention out there as part of the electorate. Be realistic. There’s too many. Just because YOURS didn’t get an allotted amount of time, feel represented that the larger community was.
You still don’t get it. They shifted to the right. Full centrist/right of center program. That’s why Harris went full throated warmonger “most lethal” military.
It’s ok to admit they did and still vote for Harris.
No, you don’t get it.
Feel free to read the passage, directly from GLAAD: https://glaad.org/releases/glaad-responds-to-kamala-harris-accepting-the-nomination-for-us-president-and-inclusion-of-lgbtq-people-in-acceptance-speech/
Can’t wait to see the response to this one.
*chirping crickets*
Full disclosure… Still vote for Harris but just be aware of what’s happening. Lots of side eye. We see what you’re doing Dems.
Not everything is a conspiracy.

It’s what happens every election year. Dems shift to the right to try to get Republican voters instead of the actual leftist voters. Gotta hide the things that the GOP rage about. That’s all.
Where is this shift to the right and when are you claiming it happened. At worst the left has stayed as far right as they have been in the last 20+ years, but the actions and voting records have trended more progressive.
I’m interested in what specifically shifted, meaning it was more progressive and now it’s less. I think you’re just making shit up.
Started with Bill Clinton…
It’s not a concerted effort as you seem to imply. Different people are for different things. An entire party of people aligning around a specific thing is a coalition.
Dems are for equality as a coalition.
GOP is not.
There’s as much likelihood of me voting for Harris as it was for Biden.
