Eg there are gaming communities in several difference instances. If you say “check out c/gaming” I have no idea if you mean gaming on lemmy.ml, or gaming on lemmy.world, or gaming on lemmy.ee, etc
If you want to point locally, that works. But universally, see what Rentlar says.
