Speaking to ABC News on Sunday morning, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US had “every expectation” that Israel would “say yes” to the proposed ceasefire deal if Hamas accepts.

“We’re waiting for an official response from Hamas,” he said, adding that the US hopes that both sides agree to start the first phase of the plan “as soon as possible”.

During that initial six-week pause in the fighting, Mr Kirby said the “two sides would sit down and try to negotiate what phase two could look like, and when that could begin”.

Didn’t Netanyahu say just the other day that there’d be no ceasefire until his war goals in Palestine had been achieved?

He initially agreed before Biden took the ceasefire public, then he backpedaled as you mentioned. He then agreed the following day.

Hamas proposed a permanent ceasefire in place of this agreement, and Israel declined. Now we’re back to waiting on Hamas to accept the temporary three-phase ceasefire with open negotiations for permanence.

It’s been tough to keep up on the order of events with news sources releasing articles at different times.
