Officials at Columbia University, facing surging tensions on campus that raised safety concerns, have announced all classes will be virtual on Monday as Passover begins.

Columbia President Minouche Shafik said in a statement the decision was made to “deescalate the rancor and give us all a chance to consider next steps.”

The move underscores how tense the situation has become at the Ivy League school and the enormous challenge facing Shafik to get the situation under control.

You can’t on one one say jewish students fear for their safety while on the other hand the jewish students are oarticipating in the anti-genocide protest…

False dichotomy and putting words in my mouth. Well played.

There is zero evidence presented in the article that jewish students are unsafe or that there’s anti-semitism being tolerated by the protestors.

Funny, when you accused me earlier of “pivoting,” it’s like you were warning me that you were going to pivot when the point became untenable.

And you pivot again. If you aren’t even going to be honest and admit I said nothing about the protestors “tolerating” anything or that I said anything about their “safety” then it’s obvious you aren’t debating in goof faith. Again, thanks for the warning by, for no reason, accusing me of being dishonest. I may have missed it otherwise.

pretending I’m changing the subject by talking about the protests

No, I’m going to keep pointing out that you are blatantly and patently not debating in good faith. I’m happy to actually stick to the point, but if you are just going to lie about what I said, and make no amends when I correct you, you’ve made your intentions clear.

So if you want to be honest, feel free. I’ll be here.
