    There were more than 2.4 million encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border during the 2023 fiscal year, up from roughly 1.7 million in 2021, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.

    That’s a shitload, above and beyond “normal”, of real humans and families we have to deal with. They are not political footballs. Pretending there is no issue because the GOP is campaigning on it is ignorant and borderline evil. Real people are hurting, both inside and outside the US.

    I don’t have answers, but I see the problem. And if anyone wants to present a simple answer to me, I’ll call you simple.
