American-led negotiators are edging closer to an agreement in which Israel would suspend its war in Gaza for about two months in exchange for the release of more than 100 hostages still held by Hamas, a deal that could be sealed in the next two weeks and would transform the conflict consuming the region.

Negotiators have developed a written draft agreement merging proposals offered by Israel and Hamas in the last 10 days into a basic framework that will be the subject of talks in Paris on Sunday. While there are still important disagreements to be worked out, negotiators are cautiously optimistic that a final accord is within reach, according to U.S. officials who insisted on anonymity to discuss sensitive talks.

Don’t they think that Hamas only has like 100 hostages left? So basically Hamas should give up all their real leverage for (possibly) 8 weeks of ceasefire while the Israelis prepare to renew their razing of all of Gaza, and steal 15% of all the land in Gaza for a ‘buffer zone’ that should be located in Israeli land, and Israeli civilians and settlers continue to make life miserable and untenable in the West Bank and elsewhere? Sounds like a great deal. /s

    Fucking murderous genocidal bastards.

You’re such a nice guy. Yes continue the war as you suggest. It’s only Palestinians after all.

I guess a ceasefire, aid and possible peace doesn’t count as helping Palestinians to you?

If it didn’t have a time limit, sure. As is, it just sounds like a way to get civilians to move back home so they can more efficiently bomb them in a few weeks.

Oh cool well yeah they should just keep the war going instead…that’ll definitely be better!

Or, ya know, negotiate a conditional cease fire that doesn’t expire in a few weeks, like someone taking a quick breather between punching you in the face.

It’s a ceasefire not peace. But stopping the shooting to allow aid and release the hostages is a good first step towards it

If you’re waiting for Israel to stop existing or for them to just roll over for hamas the Palestinians will starve by then. Time to join the real world and compromise.

Y’all are wasting your time arguing with this guy? He’s a Rah rah, Israel no matter what doesn’t care how many fucking Palestinians die.

They are solely using this as an opportunity to pretend to care about Palestinians, while actually knowing the truth is Israel is going to bomb the fuck out of gazans in two months because now they won’t have any restrictions at home because the hostages will be gone.

People like you are fucking disgusting

Explain to me why the buffer zone should be located in Israeli land? The government of Gaza started this war and they are about to lose this war. Why should the winner of this war make territorial concessions for their own safety? That’s not how this works.

Gaza was created by refugees fleeing Israel’s invasion of Palestine. An Israeli buffer zone was Palestinian land 60 years ago.
