Why? I love it! He’s taking ass-whooping after ass-whooping for the most part. Saddle up, it’s election season and democracy is literally on the line. If there’s one year to stay in tune, it’s now.

Fair if one isn’t American, though this clearly has global implications and we could use all the help we can get to push back against bots.

That’s true. I’m just on the verge of losing all hope in humanity. The fact that Trump still appears to be a suitable presidential candidate to many Americans is a major contributing factor.

Yeah… I hear you. Unfortunately ignorance and echo-chambers abound and low-educated uninformed voters are exploited by massive right-wing megaphones.

If it makes you feel better, Trump never once won the popular vote and the polls the last 2 election cycles have skewed toward Trump because Millennials and Gen Z are underrepresented. Moreover there really isn’t any sign that Trump is magically garnering more Trump supporters who weren’t already. To the contrary, 4 years have passed with his most ardent base of boomers dying off while a massive number of new young adults have since entered the fold. (here’s hoping Taylor Swift keeps pushing Voter registration). Trump has no incumbent advantage. The economy (by Republican standards) is doing great. Everyone is on to the maga attempt to steal elections and that has for the most part been dismantled.

So assuming high turnout, the fascists will be routed once again.

Thank you for the good news. It’s refreshing to hear something positive for a change. I hope the situation develops similarly here in Germany. It’s great to see hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets to rally against the resurgence of right-wing populism and fascism in our country. So apparently not all hope is lost yet. Let’s hope for the best.

Nothing anyone says will change my vote. Not paying attention will save my sanity. Especially because I’m in a swing state and they’ve already started calling me.

I get it. I avoided the national spectacle of the 2016 election, and avoided most political news for most of the Trump presidency. I voted blue every chance I got and went about my life trying to ignore the MAGA corruption.

But the 2020 election and subsequent insurrection attempt woke me the fuck up. Our democracy, and really US politics for the foreseeable future, are at stake. We need to Republicans to be absolutely neutered, or this blight is going to continue until something breaks.

We have to be angry. We have to shut these fascist fucks down hard so they slink back into the shadows.

Yelling at people on the Internet until I get an anuerysm is not “shutting the fascist fucks down.” Wasting my time trying to debunk some gish galloper or sea lion when I have other shit to do is not “shutting the fascist fucks down.” Hearing every stupid word that comes out of that giant orange anal cysts mouth will not change anyone’s mind and will only make me miserable.

I tend to agree but it’s important to push back against right-wing trolls, family, and friends. Not necessarily to convince them, but to ensure they don’t sway the apathetic who go with the currents (what these right-wing operatives refer to as normies).

There will be calls to apathy and defeatism and muddying of the waters and there must be some rebuke to the onslaught of right-wing propaganda both on and offline.

Get others out to register and vote and make sure your crazy uncle’s rants don’t go unchecked.

I am more attached to my mental well-being than I am to democracy. Plus I don’t have a crazy racist uncle and if I did I wouldn’t see his posts because I don’t use Facebook.

Unless you’re saying I should further endanger my sanity by using that cesspool again, in which case I will decline more vehemently

I posit the end of Democracy may just be a greater threat to one’s sanity than merely partaking in news and having conversations. Just a thought. Especially when we know these conversations and pushing back against trolls matter; and that inaction can lead to mold festering unchecked.

But of course, you do you.

Well I can’t deny someone’s concern for their own mental health but I hope I can show them the investment might save them misery down the road… Either way, my target audience is always the bystanders on the fence reading these threads.

Fair, but I think there is a measure of difference between being concerned with one’s mental health vs prioritizing it over the health of society around you. Sticking your head in the sand isn’t getting us out of this mess, voting blue no matter who won’t change that. It is merely the first step to fixing things.

I get speaking to the peanut gallery. I think, whether the posters are aware of the guidance or not, the lurkers guide internet discussion.

I’m not American so I’m just grabbing a chair, popcorn and watch your country’s best clowns run their circus.

I’m rooting for these particular clowns to continue to fall on their faces so that hopefully the lesser evil clown wins.

Yes it does, but none of us out here get a vote on the issue.

We have to trust the American electorate to do the right thing (as scary as that sounds…)

And every single headline gives him even more attention, and keeps him in the minds of the people who would vote for him.

It doesn’t matter if we think it’s justice, they will see it as a continuing campaign of disinformation and unwarranted attacks on a patriot.

All this coverage does is give you a hate-boner, and invigorates them.

You think Trump voters need to be reminded he exists? Trump could literally never appear in any show or headline for the rest of the year and he wouldn’t lose one single vote. However, there are plenty of dumbass “centrists” or “independents” who can temporarily be swayed to vote for the good of the country, and they’re the ones these stories need to be aimed at.

Also, how long should I wait before seeing a doctor about my hate boner? It’s been over four years and I’m starting to worry about it.
