Palestinians didn’t. Hamas did. There’s a distinction there.
And before you start both-sidesing saying that the IDF is attacking Palestinians… Israelis voted for this current government, more or less. I assume it was a nominally fair election.
The last election in Gaza was won with a minority vote for Hamas (44%? they were a plurality-vote, whoever got the most won). further, that was back in 2006. they haven’t had election since- and that was 17 years ago. This means that about half of the people alive in Gaza before Oct 7th were too young to actually vote in that election. And of the ones that were… most didn’t.

Less. It’s a coalition government that’s barely being held together. If Israelis had a chance, Netanyahu would be out on his ass. They’re sick of him too.
And yet… that happened… in '22? In any case Netty formed a coalition with, if my math is correct around 48% of the vote, with Likud having the largest share of seats.
In any case, did you miss the part where over half of the people that would have been elegible to vote before this shit started were too young to vote in the last palistinian election… seventeen years ago?
if my crude napkin math is correct, than means less than 22% of gazans had the opportunity to have any say in the matter at all. ANd lets not forget, also, that Netty saw to it that Hamas was given financial aid and support specifically to destabilize Palestine, for the sole purpose of preventing a viable Palestinian state…
The point being that Israelis had nominal democratic representation that put Netty in power. Palestinians haven’t had that in almost two decades.
So he should back the slaughter of Israelis instead? Why did Palestinians attack Israel if they did not want Israel to respond?

What I’m saying is that Netanyahu, like Hamas, does not have a strong claim to represent the will of his people.
Despite this Netanyahu is in power by manipulating election laws to his advantage, Hamas by not holding elections at all.
and, lets just check our notes here… who helped Hamas obtain power again?
Netanyahu, yeah?
If he thought working for a party required agreeing with 100% of the leadership decisions, then he wasn’t meant for work in politics.
