It’s been three years since season 3 and there has been not been a word about another season from Hulu.
My personal theory is that McFarlane signing on with NBC bruised the ego of an executive who had a say in the renewal process and this is petty revenge.
His contact with Disney (acquired when they bought Fox) expired, Seth got the offer from NBC and Disney refused to do better.
While a general contract with Disney isn’t required for him to do another season of Orville, the negotiations falling through probably soured the relationship there.
His animated shows make enough money to drag Disney to the table but Orville doesn’t pull in the same money for the cost.
It may seem like it, but August 2022 wasn’t three years ago.
Even if it was that doesn’t really seem so disqualifying after we’ve just had a new season of Futurama and anticipate a new season of King of the Hill.
Orville may not have the financial draw, but I bet Seth had more fun with that than any of the animated stuff.
Never unfortunately.
