I took y’all’s advice and did a fresh install of Bookworm Gnome…

From the live iso on the Debian link.

Everything appears great… except Bluetooth cannot start and no USB devices are ever recognized.

The USB hubs are visible, though.

Any ideas what I need to do to get USB working again?

Edit Reinstalling until I get it right 🤦‍♂️

Well for Bluetooth to start you have to run systemctl start bluetooth and then systemctl enable bluetooth to start the Bluetooth service at every boot. For some reason the systemd Bluetooth service is not enabled by default in debian.

I unfortunately have no idea of how to resolve your USB issue.

Also coming from one noob to another - don’t reinstall or restart to fix issues. Always make a good faith effort to search online for ways to fix your issues. Not only will this approach be more effective in solving the issue, you will also end up learning some new things.

Edit : Actually I might be mixing up debian and arch. https://wiki.debian.org/BluetoothUser ←refer to this for Bluetooth related issues
