At the same time, nobody wants to live in some god-awful commercial zone. Not permanent residents, not overnight residents. AirBNB has been so successful because it created ‘hotels’ where the people actually want to stay. We could have found the reasonable middle-ground long before AirBNB ever came into existence. We could have found the reasonable middle-ground as soon as AirBNB came onto the scene. But I suppose it’s easier to nothing, and then panic after your inaction has screwed yourself over.

Airbnb was successful because it used to be cheap, especially to get a kitchen.

We have one. We had one. It’s right there in AirBnB’s name. But the appeal of AirBnB for landlords is not having to follow the rules.

        Then what’s the problem?

Landlords not following the rules is not a problem as enforcement takes care of that. If what you are saying is that you don’t have enforcement for rules you created, then you have nothing, and your claims that you have something are then nonsensical.
