You can now select where you want to upload an image when scheduling a post. Current options are the target instance or Imgur.
This is for two reasons:
- Some instances have very small limits for image files
- By uploading to different hosts you don’t add to the instance admin’s storage cost
If you know any other host you’d like to see supported, do let me know!
Well, I’m not hearing you suggesting an alternative. And I think it’s better to host somewhere else than by raising the costs for your instance admins.
Hosting somewhere else is absolutely fine, probablem is imgur itself, how about webhotpix.com or postimages.org?
Imgur turned out to be problematic for a number of reasons in the past and they also want to get paid for API pulls and let’s be real, we all are here because we don’t like API costs…
Well, the api is free for non-commercial usage. But I’ll check out the other two hosts.
I checked the sites, the first one doesn’t have privacy policy or terms of service, the other one doesn’t respect GDPR.
