If you want it without propaganda, check books by people who suffered the most! Any Czech or Polish author should be fine. There won’t be any “Americentrism”.
I can’t speak for Polish authors, but books written by Czech authors are generally on point.
For example:
The Holocaust by František Emmert
Escape from Auschwitz by Erich Kulka
Under a Cruel Star: A Life in Prague 1941-1968 by Heda Margolius Kovály
Not sure what socialism has to do with it, really. Sounds to me like you’re fishing for a very specific angle which might not really conform to reality. But if I’m misreading it, the books above might be to your liking, not much propaganda to find in any of them.
