I don’t think it literally means nothing, but I’m sure you get the point I’m trying to make: for a long-term beneficial impact, good ideas need to spread from person to person faster than the bad ones do.
I understand how it isn’t passed on to the next generation. But I don’t see how that implies that being virtuous means nothing.
