To play horse you would shoot a ball from a certain spot and if you made it, the other person would have to shoot from the same spot or they get a letter. If you miss the other player gets to pick a spot. And so on until someone gets HORSE and loses. Also played with skateboard tricks and called SKATE.
You shoot, you miss, you get nothing. You shoot, you score, you get an H, followed by an O, then R, S, and E. Whoever gets to HORSE first wins.
That is the opposite of how HORSE is played.
