  • Let’s reassess from the beginning.

First commenter established democrat party as controlled opposition.

You called that tinfoil hat theory.

A Jewish commenter responded to you and pointed out how the parties are bought by AIPAC (which is at LEAST partially true) by merit of AIPAC lobbying US politicians.

You deflected their comment with deflection (racism accusation) and whataboutism (realtors are ALSO bad, and buying the government. yes. In general, btw, lobbying is bad. Because the strongest lobbies are ran by rich people).

The point of my participation in this comment thread was purely to point out how your logic is flawed and how you have failed to provide a satisfactory refutation of what other commenters said.

This last comment you posted is the only one where you have contributed to the conversation in a meaningful way, and still the best thing it does is say “you have no concrete proof of source of the goverment’s dark dealings”, which doesn’t really matter when the American government continues to fund a genocide, does it?

  • Regarding your edit, you read wrong. I am struggling to find a firsthand source of the act itself, but here is a published study

    https://schoolnutrition.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Quantitative-Evaluation-of-HHFKA-Nutrition-Standards-for-School-Lunch-Servings-and-Patterns-of-Consumption-Spring-2014.pdf

If you scroll down to calorie requirements, it lists the different age groups. You may have read the maximum for young children, but the high schooler maximum was higher.

I’m glad we agree and quickly found common ground.

It is correct to say that you are allowed to feel angry. And that your feelings are valid. I would still argue that the complaint itself isn’t valid. You chose to make your personal feelings about how you were impacted a public discussion. I’m not mad at that. But it also means that I now get to point out the nuance of the situation for spectators that saw your comment and don’t understand the full story. Because you’re saying fuck Michelle Obama for the wrong reasons. And I want everyone to agree with the “fuck Michelle Obama” sentiment, but I don’t want it to be because of a misunderstanding about what was ultimately probably a positive policy that we then have to deprogram people over later.

I’m usually snarky because I’m an asshole, I don’t even think I was trying to snark you tho, I was just tired and bluntly stating facts.

  • There were plenty of calories. I just looked at the limits. If you were failing to make weight, it was because you couldn’t afford enough food outside of school.

Your family being unable to afford the food to keep you proper size for sports is unfortunate and likely a result of systemic issues.

More unfortunate than that is the crazy huge childhood obesity stats we had in America, pointing to a poorly nourished population of children. Not to mention all the dirt poor children who received better access to warm meals as a result of the act being passed.

You said you were pissed at Michelle Obama in the past tense. Hopefully you’ve realized since then that there are other people who are more directly responsible for your issues.

And like, fuck the Obamas. Just not really a valid complaint. There are better things to be angry at them for.

Edit: another interpretation could also be an ED, in which case, again, not the legislation’s fault.

That said, the SCHOOL may have been failing you by not competently finding suitable dietary replacements.

The federal or state governments also could have been failing you by not competently funding the school.

Context: Calories per meal had to be between like 650 and 850 for high school iirc. That is intended to be one daily meal. Of course, thanks to this program and others like it, some schools also serve breakfast and sometimes even dinner.

  • Incredibly absurd perspective. It’s like a US southerner saying “There were no upsides to the civil war”, and then someone points at the federal abolishment of slavery, and you respond “oh yeah well the question now is did the civil war prevent the south from releasing their slaves from captivity?”

Like, I’m trying to use less hateful language, but I really don’t know what the fuck else to say to you other than point out the fact that you… well, like, some people just need someone to grab their heads and shake them really hard for a while. That’s you.

  • That guys not an American lol, just a rabid xenophobe making you feel the same xenophobia you’re pushing against Americans because we live in a country with a significantly propagandized population lmfao. Hilariously ironic. Maybe you should all just stop talking shit about citizens of nations as if they’re monolithic?
