So I’d have already seen my self travel back in time and am just repeating what’s already happened. Which would mean I’d have already seen my current self in advance and am now just experiencing the same event from the other way around?

In sci-fi, there are generally three types of time travel:

    • you can alter the past - this is mostly full of holes and generally not to be found in new media
    • the past is set in stone - this is the scenario you’re describing - the past has already happened, including you travelling to it and seeing your younger self which means your younger self has seen you
    • multiverses - each time travel creates a new parallel universe, meaning whatever you do doesn’t change anything because you’re changing an alternate timeline, not yours
