This was the first good find of the year right in the back yard. Many people discriminate the iron signals out of their detectors but its good plug practice that can sometimes pay out with genuinely interesting artifacts.

If I know anything about archeology, that implies you are likely to find most of the rest of the truck nearby.

    Keep searching!

Thank you Pronell! Someone I know also joked about the rest of the car being there. I didn’t take it seriously until I found this huge 2- 3 feet long twisted chunk of iron rebar with bolts in holes nearby. I planned to post about that that next but here’s a sneak peak picture.

I guess you never know. It could have been part of a car chassis. Maybe, maybe not.

I was just thinking about the similarities a inquisitive detectorist shares with an archeologist as I was cleaning a recent find. To dig up a man made thing and not know what it is. To speculate on its history and how it got there as you gently peel back the layer cake of encrusted dirt to better study its details. Its kind of neat.
