The motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the motorcycle driver went to the hospital with critical injuries.
As a guy that once had a motorcycle I hate these fucking groups. They make the general public hate bikers. They risk the lives of countless other people with their stupid shit. Just the worst of the worst.
I don’t wanna say all motorcycle clubs suck, but it really seems like they mostly do. They are either selfish and irresponsible or racist and stupid. Sometimes all of the above (such as on a Harley with a vest and patch).
It’s extremely difficult for me to fathom what would compel anyone – nevermind motorcyclists – to try to overcome a railroad crossing arm when it’s lowering or already in the level position. To then go through the crossing is to ignore the impending danger of an incoming train.
For reference, the level crossing in question is at mid-block of a six lane divided roadway with generous bike lanes, with a wide, raised median in the center. The crossing is guarded by two arms lowering into the roadway on each direction prior to the tracks, for a total of four arms. Visibility down the tracks is not obscured by any adjacent buildings, except maybe the pillars for the BART metro overcrossing, running parallel to the surface Union Pacific (Niles Subdivision) railroad. The train in question appears to be one of the 22 daily Capitol Corridor trains between the Bay Area and Sacramento.
1 down, 99 to go?
Fucking manslaughter
Both were wearing helmets.
Thank you for answering my most pressing question about this.
At least we now know that trains beat helmets.
Hopefully they weren’t late to wherever they needed to be in such a rush.
They’re definitely late now.
