What’s with the article holding up a bunch of unknown mid-rated games as stars of the genre while never mentioning award winners like hollow knight and others?
I was surprised by the focus on Ultros, but not Animal Well. That game is already one of the genre’s hallmarks. I liked Ultros, but know it’s not for everyone. Animal Well isn’t as traditional an entry, but a smash hit.
Spent two years on and off on Simon’s Quest before figuring out some of the hidden stuff that allowed me to get to the end and then beat the game. Hundreds of wasted hours killing those stupid zombies at night and talking to useless villagers during the day. What a shit designed game.
