There’s a fat old man with a red hat and a gun sitting on my first switch. I’m gonna go ahead and see if I can fix the other switch while everyone else is getting run over.

It completely depends what state you are voting in. Where polling shows a certain winner, 3rd party can provide a signal for how broken the system is, and might bring a 5% threshhold durable gain for the 3rd party.

Palestinian lives and women’s bodies are a sacrifice gaming-chair leftists are willing to make for their sense of moral superiority.

Ok now it’s a trolley problem, except instead of a trolley it’s a US presidential election, and instead of pulling a lever you vote

The meme is from an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Charlie here has taken a job with another character, Mac, where they are delivering mail in an office complex. Charlie is in the mail room all day while Mac chats up the office staff and pretends to work in someones office while they are on vacation. Charlie gets increasingly paranoid and cooks up this idea that none of the people he’s getting mail for actually exist. Mac informs him that not only do these people exist, but they are all wondering where their mail is.

So, no, in the show the crazy one, Charlie, is definitely not right, and almost never is.

      Carol? Caaaarol?!

they are delivering mail in an office complex.

Or more accurately, Charlie is throwing the mail away because he can’t read the names of the people he is supposed to be delivering the mail to.

I think you’re only allowed to be this cocky if you actually pressure your party after its election. You don’t do this, you forget about democracy the moment it’s most important to pressure your leaders. If the dem party allowed republicans to go this far it’s because they know they just have to put out some barely decent optics and then they’ll be off the hook for 4 years, winning or losing.

If things are as shitty as they are it’s also because of the people that wake up in time only to berate those who’ve been talking and protesting unheard for all these years, maybe with your voice the dem party would actually become desirable and not just the least worst option.

Maybe people will be more inclined to listen to you if you didn’t treat them like mindless sheep, somewhat ironically. Politics isn’t just voting, and it isn’t just voting the lesser evil, doing only that is literally how fascism finds purchase in democracy and you should stop being so high and mighty defending the party responsible for this inaction for so many years

What many people don’t realize, some know all to well, once the dems are established the democrat party out number the left voices that want to push back against it. They then go about shutting down all discussions. So, this year, and this all too premature, if Kamala wins let her face the fire immediately. Don’t come out shutting down everyone who has something true but factually bad for Kamala. I know this is a bad look, because sexist, but we can’t go on like this where the president gets a infinite pass because they lock themselves up in the white house never to be seen or heard again.

yes lets vote Democrats who are one of two parties that helped break the broken switch to begin

third parties do not work because the elites have shelled out enough funds to both parties to ensure they and their donors always come out ahead

That’s mostly because not enough people are willing to put in the work down ballot years prior to a presidential campaign to do anything. You have an infinitesimal number of 3rd party candidates holding local offices, almost none holding state offices, and only four independents in Congress (…two of whom are not running for reelection).

If you’re not seeing 3rd party people getting elected to state and national office, then voting 3rd party for president is obviously a losing strategy.

been plenty enough people to put in the work

Given that independent (non-Democratic/Republican) candidates hold only a very, very tiny minority of all elected positions, I’d say that there have not been plenty of people putting in the work. Shit, look at local election; school boards positions elections sometimes have less than a thousand voters participating, depending on the school board. You should absolutely be able to get enough people knocking on doors to get Libertarian candidates (in Republican-dominated areas) or Green candidates (in Democratic-dominated areas) winning, if you just had people going out and knocking on doors.
