To a lot of people, Republicans are just an obstacle that if Dems fail to hurdle, it’s all the Dem’s fault. Republicans have been broken for so long, many people have just written their agency out of politics entirely.
What other option do we really have? If there’s only one set of adults in the room, it’s their job to stop the children. If they just sit while the children start killing each other, then who’s responsible?
