In the end Iraq is doing better today than it has in the last 150 years. It was a bumpy road, but the people are living in peace without fear for the first time in their lives.

Huh? How was iraq doing before the uk decided they owned the place during wwI? How will Iraq do if it’s gov ever decides to take a position that is contrary to the US or if they try to nationalize their oil fields and take the profits away from Western oil companies?

You’re not being compassionate, you are tying to hide behind fake compassion by insinuating that someone is unwell because of their opinion.

Ok I typed out a huge story and my phone refreshed the screen. Grrrr

Anyway, background I was in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once between 2001 and 2010 serving logistics roles and driving a HMMWV in convoys. It was sort of like this but I was usually in the third or fourth element vehicle driving.

I saw a lot, dodged a lot, came out of it all with a lot of life experiences and knowledge. Everyone on the ground knew GWB was a dumbass and the WMD shit was fake, but orders are orders. We did think there was going to be more information on the why later, but today we know he ordered the invasion to impress his father after the 1990 Iraq Invasion was stopped after the Highway of Death incident.

What do you mean? Iraq’s doing quite good. The government is functioning, the United States has invested a lot to rebuild what was lost. It’s still at a level four don’t travel rule because of Syria and Iran, but it’s on track for full recovery in five years.
