In what may be the first known instance of combat occurring in space, an Israeli defense system destroyed a ballistic missile above Earth’s atmosphere.
The ballistic missile very likely did not come anywhere close to Earth orbit, so unlike those aforementioned anti-satellite tests, this incident probably didn’t generate any dangerous orbital debris.
Whew?
No Kessler Syndrome today
I don’t know if I interpret that sound correctly, but:
“Earth Orbit” means reaching speed to orbit earth (going around it very fast); not just reaching space (and then dropping down again).
